Professional background

I grew up in Basel and Bern. After my Matura I went to Paris for one year and then started my medical studies in Geneva and continued them in Bern. Here I successfully completed the medical degree as well as my doctorate.

Already during my years of study, plastic surgery was the surgical field that fascinated me because of its diversity and strong requirement for interdisciplinarity. By chance, an opportunity and great interest in the discipline, I took up my first post after graduation at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Inselspital in Bern under Prof. Dr. Andreas Raabe. After this foreign year I began the regular path of further training in plastic surgery, which led me over 2 years of general surgery and hand surgery at the Stadtspital Triemli Zurich, over one year of hand surgery at the CHUV in Lausanne and finally again over the intensive care unit at the Inselspital in Bern.

I obtained my specialization in plastic surgery at the Inselspital in Bern, in la Clinic in Montreux (Dr. Pfulg) and finally at the University Hospital in Lausanne (CHUV) under the experienced direction of Prof. Dr. W. Raffoul. I took further training courses in Nancy (FR) and at Columbia University (New York). The collaboration with these different experts, in different fields of plastic surgery have helped me gaining a broad expertise.

In 2020/2021, in addition to my work in Lausanne, I completed a two-year internationally recognized training at the Collège International de Médecine Esthétique in Paris. It teaches the physical, biochemical and genetic basics of minimally invasive, regenerative and non-surgical methods of aesthetic restoration. Examples are skin rejuvenation by peeling, wrinkle reduction by botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid, autologous serum injections (PRP-Platlet Rich Plasma) for skin regeneration and hair growth promotion or the wide spectrum of laser treatment for skin rejuvenation, pigment spot removal or scar treatment. This knowledge allows me to advise my patients in a holistic way and to offer individually tailored solutions accordingly.

This additional training has enabled me to help establish the Centre de Médecine esthétique et régénérative (CUMER) at the CHUV and thus integrate aesthetic medicine into university training. As a senior physician, I continue to work one day a week in the field of aesthetic surgery and aesthetic medecine at the CHUV in Lausanne.

In 2023, I have been elected as a board member of the Swiss Laser Society FMCH. (https://www.laserkommission.ch/de/laserkommission/organigramm.html)
